Energy models are a critical requirement in the U.S. Green Building Council's LEED-NC rating system. Under Energy & Atmosphere (EA) Credit 1, a prospective LEED building can earn up to 10 points if the project team can demonstrate optimized energy performance. The greater the reduction in energy cost, the more points may be awarded.
