Your Trane Thermostat: How to Turn Off Automations

If you have a Trane smart thermostat, you have probably set up one or more automations. Available through the Home App and web portal, automations help you save energy and give you peace of mind.

What are automations on Trane thermostats?

All Trane smart thermostat models give you the ability to program and automate temperature changes. They may enable you to set up automations involving your lighting, security system, and more, depending on what devices and systems you choose to connect to your smart thermostat.

Automations allow your devices to operate automatically based on specific conditions or times of the day.  Common if/then automations include:

  • Using geofencing to automatically adjust the temperature as you near your home after a day at work.
  • Turning on the entry light and sending an alert when your child enters their code into an exterior lock.
  • Adjusting the temperature when motion is detected in the family room.
  • Turning off the HVAC system when windows are opened.
  • When the front door opens at your vacation home, change the HVAC schedule to Run Occupied Schedule versus the schedule you have set for when the house is vacant.

For more information on adding automation, visit Trane Home Support's automations overview. You can also find information in your Trane thermostat owner’s manual.

Disabling automations

As great as automations can be for saving energy and providing peace of mind, occasionally you will want to disable them, change them, or delete them. You can do this through the Trane Home App or the web portal.

From the Automations page: To edit automation, click Edit and make any changes you would like.  To remove an automation, click Remove and confirm that you want to remove it.

If you have difficulty, visit Trane Home Support. Browse the articles, and if you still can’t find the information you need, contact them directly or contact your dealer.
