Modular Self Contained Units

Trane® Modular Self-Contained Units

New capacity models expand the range from 20 to 110 tons.

With walls up and doors in place, HVAC retrofits pose real installation challenges. Problem solved: Trane’s Modular Self-Contained Units ship as multiple small cassettes, no more than 34.5” wide. The entire unit passes easily through standard commercial doorways, hallways and freight elevators—in easy-to-handle pieces—then assembles quickly in the dedicated space. This form-follows-function approach makes it easy to install quiet, efficient, self-contained units in office buildings, schools and more. Trane offers the most efficient modular self-contained units on the market at up to 20.8 IEER.

Recent changes to Modular Self-Contained units include:

  • Line expansion, with a new 20-ton capacity unit for smaller spaces. New 90-110 ton units will be available in April 2025.
  • Digital Symbio® 500 unit controls are now standard.
  • All units have transitioned to low-GWP R-454B refrigerant with standard leak detection when required.

Note: Single-piece Self-Contained units received similar updates in Q4 2023.

CoolSense® Sensible Cooling (DOAS) Terminal Unit

CoolSense® Sensible Cooling (DOAS) Terminal Unit

Variable speed fan design provides an energy efficiency bonus.

CoolSense systems save energy by decoupling the latent and sensible loads. Our variable speed fan design amps up the comfort benefits while lowering energy demand. CoolSense Sensible Cooling (DOAS) Terminal Units are integral to our CoolSense® Integrated Outdoor Air Systems, which are specifically designed to help maintain zone-level comfort in modern buildings with tight envelopes and lower sensible loads. The innovative design allows for precise control over the cooling and dehumidification processes, while helping to reduce energy consumption. The new, improved fans operate even more quietly and efficiently, providing a decarbonization and cost-saving bonus.

CoolSense units have a “flippable” design allowing for left- or right-sided installation without modifications.

New Cybersecurity Certifications

New Cybersecurity Certifications

Cybersecurity is a real and growing threat to buildings and businesses. Trane has obtained two certifications that help maintain the integrity of Trane control products.

SOC 2 Type 2 Compliance

SOC 2 Type 2 is a high-security standard that is becoming a high priority for many buildings, and Trane’s solutions for connected buildings fully align. SOC 2 reports are issued by an external audit firm to verify Trane’s controls products and services meet the AICPA Trust Services Security Criteria. This new level of SOC 2 compliance is the latest demonstration of our ongoing commitment to cybersecurity.

SOC 2 Type 2 compliance covers: Symbio® 800, Tracer® TU, Tracer® SC+, Tracer® Ensemble® Cloud, Trane Intelligent Services and Trane® Connect™

TX-RAMP Certification

TX-RAMP (Texas Risk and Authority Management Program) provides a standardized approach for cybersecurity assessment, certification and continuous monitoring of cloud computing services that process the data of Texas state agencies.  This certification enables the full use of Trane cloud-based products to be used in Texas government agencies and public higher education institutions.
